As a shy, insecure young adult, I used to believe it was my accomplishments and achievements that would make me stand out. If I earned enough accolades, that would make up for what I lacked in confidence and extroversion. This led to years of speeding through life, racing from one starting line to another, each time believing ‘this one would be the last.’
“Once I get this job, I’ll slow down.”
“Once I get this promotion, I’ll take a break.”
“Once I finish this next triathlon, I’ll rest.”
“Once I…I’ll finally be worthy.”
The thing is, I was so focused on the starting line, I never really felt what the finish line was like. I was already moving on to the next starting line.
